Broadcasting 101

A Broadcast contains activities (including discussions, events, surveys, and more) that a participant can complete to earn points, trophies and rewards. As a Broadcaster, you orchestrate the end-to-end process of engaging with your participants. You also have full control of managing invites and analytics (performance and participation).

Broadcast in 5 Steps

Step 1: Create it In the backend Hub, select “Create Broadcast” (top right). Complete the experience setup and advanced settings and then save the new Broadcast.

Step 2: Set it up Start from the top and work your way down:

Overview (Required if campaign type) This page will be shared with all participants that are part of the group(s) you invite. Make sure to upload a featured image and to add a description (required to publish).

Invitations (Required) Here you can either select an existing group or create a new one. Go to “Manage Groups” to add a new group. For campaign Broadcasts, invites will only be sent once you publish.

Activity Feed (Required if campaign type) Add activities to the Broadcast. At least one activity must be added before you can publish.

Dashboard (Optional, Auto Setup) Add / remove insights, analytics and goals that will be visible to participants. A Broadcast is created with a basic dashboard so you don’t need to do anything unless you want to customise.

Performance (Optional) Upload one or more files containing performance data. As a Broadcaster, you can pick one column as your performance indicator. Please check that your file meets the requirements. Note: Once Performance data is uploaded you can make adjustments by updating the live upload. If you would like to see a sample of a performance data upload, please download our sample .csv file: Download Sample Data

Leaderboard (Auto) This will show you where all of the participants are ranked. Participants themselves will only see the top 10 and will only see themselves on the leaderboard if they are amongst the top 10.

Rewards (Optional if campaign type) Create rewards and apply conditions, e.g. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, top 10, etc. Note: The Rewards Collection contact will only be shared with reward winners.

Analytics (Optional & Auto Setup) Analytics are divided into Insight, Focus and Analysis and are only visible to the Broadcaster. All 3 have default graphs that will be auto setup for you, but you can choose which you would like to have displayed by activating/deactivating a graph (see on/off switch per graph). You will be able to setup custom graphs on the desktop app and observe them in the Broadcaster view of the app (see Step 4).

Step 3: Publish it Once you are happy with your Broadcast, you select “Publish Broadcast” from the top Broadcast menu. When doing so, the system will do a quick check to see if required assets and settings are provided.

Step 4: Observe it Now it’s time to observe, marvel and modify. Open your app and go to the Account to switch between participant and Broadcaster views. Access the desktop app to add new graphs, activities and participants, or to make required changes.

Step 5: End it If you want the Broadcast to end, simply go the Broadcast section, select the cogwheel and “End Broadcast”. This will trigger prize giving. Note: Ending a Broadcast can not be undone.
